Our Trip...

We had a great trip to the Auckland museum where we were able to check out the Volcanoes section and visit the shaky house where we experienced what it may be like if there was a real volcanic eruption.

We also explored other parts of the museum that interested us like the dinosaurs, Maori court, War memorial and butterfly exhibition.

Wow here are the girls lifting some Volcanic bombs!

Look at this Fijian boat it is all handmade out of wood and plants!

Wow what big muscles you have boys!

You spotted the butterflies!

Check out the dinosaur fossils - EEEkkk I hope they don't come alive.

Lucky us...

We have been learning more about natural disasters with a particular focus on Volcanoes.
We can tell you how an eruption happens, the impact on people and how to keep safe if a volcano should explode.

On Friday we were lucky to have some volcano educators from the Auckland museum come to teach us more about this natural disaster.  Check out our learning.

Rangitoto Island is a the biggest Volcano in Auckland.

There are 50 volcanoes in Auckland.  Luckily they are extinct!

Here is the Earths crust this is where the land is.

Then if you dig a little deeper into the earth you will find earths mantle.

In the middle of the earth we call it the CORE.  It is super hot here.

Oh no! there is an active volcano at PCS!!!

Check out these volcanic rocks - they are called volcanic bombs!
If you find one you get to give it a special name.

Popcorn fun!

We popped popcorn as part of our writing time.
We have been learning to write a 5 W poem.  A 5 W poem says who, what, when, where and why?
We had a blast writing about our delicious popcorn party.

The popcorn made popping noises.
Someone said the "Popcorn is exploding like a volcano."

Yum, Yum it smells like the movies!

Delicious popcorn!

Sports time...

This term we are learning about large ball skills.

We are trying to...
- Stand with one foot in front of the other
- As we pass the ball we are stepping forward onto our front foot to give our pass more power
- It is important to have our hands ready to catch the ball
- Some of the passes we are trying to do are a chest pass, bounce pass and overhead pass

Check us out.
